BRD - West German early Bundeswehr Folding Entrenching-tool (Schanzzeug) with Cover.
Folding entrenching-tool which most likely would have originally been Wehrmacht issue and used by the newly formed Bundeswehr in the 50s with an American-style leather & canvas-webbing carrier. Overall length of the opened tool is 69cms. Length when closed and in the carrier, 51cms. No markings or stamps visible other than "Knip Hier" on the press-stud. Third Reich : Wehrmacht Rigid Entrenching-tool (Schanzzeug) with Leather Carrier (Tragetasche).
Standard rigid German entrenching-tool (50cm long) in its original combined black leather and Presstoff simulated-leather carrier with belt-loops. Excellent condition with no wear or damage and working buckle. There are no makers marks on the spade but the tiny number '34' is stamped into the leather carrier in a couple of places.

Bronze hexagonal medal with green & white silk ribbon. The medal is engraved on the reverse with the recipients name 'William P Johnson'. Excellent condition.
I have not researched the man.
This award started life in 1944 as a ribbon and eventually took on its present medallic form in 1960. read more
